Bus Transportation Now Available

Getting to Roots & Rise just got easier.

Washington County Public Schools now provides bus transportation from most schools directly to our program. Here’s everything you need to know.

Before You Begin

A quick overview before you fill out the form:

  • WCPS Provides: After-school drop-off at the Prospect Avenue stop near RWJCC.
  • Not Provided: Return bus service at 7:00 PM. Parents are responsible for pickup.
  • Program Hours: Monday – Thursday, 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM.
  • Not Available: Bus service for North Hagerstown High School students (within walking
    distance).

How to Request Bus Transportation

Follow these six simple steps.

STEP 1 — Download the Transportation Location Change Form

Download the editable form below. Open it in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat on your computer.

Important: Do not print it before filling it out — your information may disappear.

STEP 2 — Fill Out Student Information

  • Student Name — your child's full legal name
  • School — your child's current school
  • Grade — your child's current grade
  • Student ID — if available (not required)

STEP 3 — Enter the Drop-Off Location

Fill in exactly as shown:

  • Alternate Stop Location: Prospect Avenue (near RWJCC)
  • Drop-Off Address: 109 W. North Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740
  • Drop-Off Time: PM (not AM — make sure PM is selected)
  • Days Needed: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

STEP 4 — Fill Out Your Contact Information

  • Parent/Guardian Name — your full name
  • Phone Number — your best contact number
  • Email — your email address
  • Signature — type your name in the signature field

STEP 5 — Submit the Completed Form to WCPS

Once completed, do not print it. Save the file and submit it directly:

STEP 6 — Wait for WCPS Approval

  • Processing takes up to 10 business days.
  • WCPS will contact you directly with your approval and start date.
  • Approval depends on available bus capacity.
  • Once approved, please let us know so we can update our records.

Yes. Even siblings must each have their own separate Transportation Location Change Form submitted to WCPS.

Do not print the form before filling it out. Fill it out on your computer using Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat, then save and email the completed file directly to WCPS.

Please use the updated form available for download on this page. The updated version includes the PM option. Make sure to select PM for after school drop-off.

No. WCPS only provides after-school drop-off at the Prospect Avenue stop near RWJCC.

WCPS typically processes requests within 10 business days. They will contact you directly with your approval and confirmed start date. Approval is subject to available bus capacity.

Absolutely. Please do not let the approval process delay your child's participation. We welcome drop-offs and pickups at any time during our program hours: Monday – Thursday, 2:30 PM – 7:00 PM.

Bus transportation is not available for North Hagerstown High School students as the Robert W. Johnson Community Center is within walking distance of the school.

Yes. The Transportation Location Change Form must be completed and submitted to WCPS at the start of each school year.
